Fire Protection Requirements
Barry Road Primary School required a new, addressable fire system to be installed throughout the entire school building. Due to the operational hours of the school, work needed to be carefully scheduled outside regular hours. Given a tight four-month timeline leading up to May 2024, the installation had to be completed in evenings, weekends, and over the Easter holidays to avoid disruption to the school day.

Fire Alarm Systems’s work for Barry Road Primary School followed industry-standard safety and compliance standards, while ensuring the addressable fire system was technically capable and future-proof. The new system involved four control panels linked across the school, covering over 350 individual devices—our largest addressable fire alarm system to date. This complex setup required careful planning and technical expertise to ensure all devices functioned in tandem, providing comprehensive coverage and reliable response in case of an emergency.

To meet the school’s needs, the Fire Alarm Systems team started work as soon as the facilities were vacant at 16:30, working through till 23:00. Our team was able to commission and launch the new system during the Easter holidays. This commitment to flexibility allowed the project to progress smoothly within the school’s timeline.
This was the largest project Fire Alarm Systems had undertaken, and the successful completion gives Fire Alarm Systems acute awareness of the service and maintenance requirements at Barry Road Primary School going into the future. The school can now rely on Fire Alarm Systems for emergency call-outs, routine servicing, maintenance, and future fire risk assessments as part of their ongoing fire safety plan.
